Grand National - The Easiest Race In The World To Predict?

Well, I dearly hope some of you estimable readers took my advice on the Grand National and backed Silver Birch (amongst others).

I say it every year, and people really seem to have a problem understanding it. So let me repeat it again, with apologies for shouting:

THE GRAND NATIONAL IS A STATS RACE!!!!!!!!!

The only time in the last ten years when the stats have not found the winner was when Hedgehunter won. He was not a stats horse because he carried 11-01, with the cutoff being 11-00. On the basis of a pound and fitting all the other trends, I backed him anyway. (Read more)

Should You Sell Ad Space In Your E-Newsletter?

According to a recent Marketing Sherpa article, selling ad space in your e-zine might not be a bad idea. Many e-publishers are making it work. They’re selling ad space to relevant and complimentary products and services without having a negative impact on their brand image, customer perception, or conversion rate.

So how do you make it work?

Some People May Be Genetically Prone to Obesity

A new study says the gene could increase some people’s risk of becoming dangerously overweight by 70% and raising their consequent chance of developing Diabetes by 50%.

The study, by geneticists from Oxford University and the Peninsula Medical School in Britain, could eventually lead to new ways of approaching the condition that blights the health of millions. The findings may also help explain why some people find it harder to lose weight than others.

The researchers spent 15 years analyzing the DNA and health of more than 40,000 adults and children before pinpointing a (Read more)

Alternative Grand National Guide

At this time of year, we get utterly swamped with ‘Grand National Previews’, and this will be another one. To break from the usual monotony though, I’m proposing a slightly different tack.

Rather than pin sticking, I will tell you why each of the horses can’t win. This is actually a particularly savvy tactic, as it virtually guarantees me being 97.5% right. (i.e. there will only be one winner out of forty starters!)

So, here we go, from the top to the bottom. Find your fancy and see why it can’t win tomorrow!!

Create a Spirit Servant With Your Own Psychic Energy

Most people have heard of the witch’s “familiar.” It’s commonly thought to be an animal, such as a cat or raven. Actually, the familiar was a spirit servant, which may or may not have lived in the body of an animal belonging to the witch. You can create your own spirit servant by creating a psi-ball with the psychic energy–sometimes called chi, prana, or mana–which we all have. You can use this psi-ball for healing, telepathy, clairvoyance, or psychic attacks.

It is very easy to create a psi-ball. You just need a couple of weeks of practice for (Read more)

Aintree Day Two Preview

A little short on time today, so I’ll keep this brief (I can hear your collective sigh of relief from here!)…

Yesterday - Mighty Man won the first as expected, but I didn’t back it. I lost money on State Of Play, as Exotic Dancer proved himself a very very good horse in the Betfair Bowl.

Katchit won as he pleased, and I did back him but only for small money. By the way, did I mention I love this horse?

Just one point of order here: what the Dickens are the BBC doing employing the abject buffoon who is Jim McGrath to do the commentary?! Not only did he (Read more)

How To Do Niche Market Research Using Forums

Forums are a great place to conduct market research. Why? Because that is where people discuss about their favorite topic, their likes and dislikes, their wishes and what problems they want solved to make their life. This makes forums an excellent place to ’spy’ on your market and their problems and needs.

Certain forums will contain leading figures and experts. Look out for their posts as they usually provide quality information. This is how information entrepreneurs create completely (Read more)

Choosing A Healthy Snack That Will Give You Energy

Unfortunately, most snacks we get at the store are not that healthy for us. If you look at the front of the box, it sure seems like they are. However, if you look at the back of the box, you will see that that is actually far from the truth. Most snacks are made with high fructose sugar and enriched flour.

Take a look at some of the snacks that most people think of as healthy. This list is from an article written by Stephen Cabral, who is a national health correspondent with over (Read more)
